How do I mount the skeleton cast?

Many cast skeletons come in "ready to mount" parts. The structure allowing the mounting of the animal is already inserted in the bones and the parts are relatively large (for example: tail in three parts or hind leg in one or two parts + an articulated foot). In this case, you just need to fit the parts together and lock them with screws or other prepared system. In a "ready to mount" skeleton, the position was already chosen for you.
If you want a cheaper skeleton, some are also available as unmounted set of bones. Here you have to figure out all the bones and then find a way to mount the skeleton. This type of cast is an advantage if you are planning to make a diorama and have a special idea about the position that you would like.
To find out in which category a cast skeleton falls, check in "more informations".

Does it come in a box like Lego with a manual?

It comes in a box (or more if it’s big), but there’s usually no manual. However "ready to mount" sets are relatively easy to mount and can be set up in a matter of hours. An unmounted set of bones, requires mounting experience and a good knowledge of the osteology of dinosaurs.

How long can a dinosaur cast last?

There are many ways and techniques to do fossil casts. The mould is generally in silicone or latex rubber. The casts can be made in polyester, fiberglass, acrylic, polyurethane or plaster.
